That's because the news on the stock market, read this :

U.S. stocks slumped on Wednesday, as a drop in oil prices dragged down energy shares, and a possible collapse of two big hedge funds hit investment banks, overshadowing Morgan Stanley's (NYSE:MS - news) strong profit.

Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM - news) and Chevron Corp. (NYSE:CVX - news) were the biggest downside contributors to the S&P 500 after weekly government data showed a build in crude supplies to their highest level in nine years, sending crude futures lower.

Exxon stock was down 3.5 percent to $82.82 while Chevron fell 2.8 percent to $80.97. Other energy stocks trading lower included Marathon Oil (NYSE:MRO - news), down 4.5 percent to $61.78, and Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:OXY - news), down 3.5 percent to $57.02.

How long can we use oil (the fosil fuel) on the world.

Media acquisition

This is a news about business acquisition. I got it from Yahoo news:

Wall Street Journal publisher Dow Jones & Co. said Wednesday that its board would take the lead in discussions over a potential acquisition of the company by News Corp., the sprawling media conglomerate controlled by Rupert Murdoch.

News Corp. had been waiting for a proposal from the Bancrofts on ways to safeguard the Journal's editorial independence. The family had been expected to deliver those plans to News Corp. last week, following an initial meeting with Murdoch in early June.

Maybe this is not only business issue, but also the journalistic elan. Are the Journal's editor can stend up and hold their independence ?

This is the sport article that I've read on Yahoo headline sport news:

Sammy Sosa's 600th homer resembled so many that came before — except this time the Chicago Cubs were on the other side. Playing for the Texas Rangers after a year out of baseball, Sosa became the fifth member of the 600-homer club Wednesday night when he connected against his former team.

After driving a 1-2 pitch to right-center for a solo shot in the fifth inning of Texas' 7-3 victory, Slammin' Sammy bounced out of the batter's box with his trademark hop and thrust his right fist into the air before reaching first base. He was mobbed at home plate by his teammates while the scoreboard showed pictures of all five members of the elite club: Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Sosa.

Sosa played for the Cubs from 1992-2004, winning the '98 NL MVP award and making seven All-Star teams while hitting 545 homers with Chicago.

Softball and baseball are not a populer sport game in Indonesian. Here, people love soccer or football (not American football). People know UEFA, AC Milan, Manchester United, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho the Brazilian stars, better than those who are the top line in NBA.

Even I keep a piece of a ball and also a the trousers (I don't know the name). I bought it in the garage sale some where in my town (we call it "Klithikan" java word mean pity).

That's always an ambiguity between the global and the local. Maybe that's why Yahoo, Google, and so many giants, localized their site....

Online business, the new way of business

Yup, in this decade, I saw with a blank face ... many miracle ways of business... Multilevel marketing (MLM), Foreign Exchange (Forex), Distance Learning, ... and now "the new stars" online business.

Of course, I used to that kind of business too. When I bought a domain name from my Registrar, they site their main office in India, even they have partners arround the world, including my provider in my home town. I rent a web server in Jakarta and also in California US. For all of the services, I pay by online transfer by fund my eBanking site, or via the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM), some where in the streets.

I don't even eyes with my customer service team who are ready 24 hours a day to give me support, including help me when I need some guiding about the server or just forget to setup the code for the site. I allready be their loyal customer for over 4 years !

So ... it's works !

Online business need trust for everyone to join, work, live, and wealth together...

And here were are... in a path to the world...

Mobile phone, when everyone get connected

Ten years ago, I couldn't imagine how people could going arround with a handphone (or personal phone) on their pocket. As the same as, I even didn't hear internet yet.

When first time introduced in Indonesian market, there were only a few and very exclusive people that could have personal phone/handphone. Motorola, Erickson were the most wellknown brands.

My First mobile phone was Nokia, the 5110 models. Small enough, nice, and we love it (we called it "millions people handphone") since it was very popular and hold the first market share in the country.

And now, as time goes by...

We even wait for a brand new technology for personal phone... just day by day. If we don't read some articles or reviews in the daily paper, we'll lose the "new edge" information. Just say, ... pushmail, blackberry, the Wimax initiative, etc.

Maybe some day in the future, every one can get "connected" to internet by a personal gadged everywhere in an on the planet. I don't know, can be via GPRS, GSM, CDMA, and every ways that's I can't imagine.

So, be connected ... and be happy...

Page Rank and Search Engine Optimazing

When first time registered to Google, kamushuku.com was list only for the domain name, without any explaination..., without any text.

After waiting for several month, we gain up and up in page rank, especially for our core "keyword". No more than a year, our site was list in the top rank for the niche site "kamus hukum".

Yup, it's a lucky. But also supported by so many Search Engine Optimatizing that learned in many books that we've read, many sites reviews, and friends suggestions too.

So here we are. We leap 3 years target just for 1 year, and list in the top rank for our core keyword. Thank you God.

I've heard the instrumental music several time. But the special moment was in my sister wedding. This composition was played by my friend. One on the violin.

That's the slogan I've found on BMW 7 series poster. Yup, in my country, BMW is such luxury brand besides Mercedes Benz, Audi, Bentley, Jaguar, Ferrari, Toyota, and all others luxury sedan. You can find them on the road in Jakarta.

But on the internet, what's the luxury vehicles ? Broadband connection ? Brand new Notebook ? Macintosh or PC ? Intel or AMD ?

No, our time is not like “The Devil’s Alternative” a thriller book that authored by my favourite writer Frederick Forsyth. He also author of "The Dog War" that became best seller too.

In Indonesian, we had the synonim terms “makan buah simalakama”. The situation when some one has to choose between 2 bad choices.

Yes, terrible situation, but in dangdut music became a song that sang attractively by Denis Arista in some indie video music production I have found in Ponorogo’s central Park, last February 2007.

For more than a month, I join a research team hired by Plan International in Ponorogo. Besides served as IT support for the team, I also worked as photograper for the research. Geared by Nikon D70S and Canon EOS 350 D digital camera, Sandisk Ultra II 1 GB Compact Flash memory card, a Velbon tripod, the team used ethno- photograpy as one of culture studies method to conduct a Phase out Report for Plan International Program Unit Ponorogo and Pacitan.

Indonesian Internet User, the oportunity

How many Indonesian Internet User ? Two million users (2.000.000). Yup, it's true, but that was in 2000. The Indonesian ISP associatioan reported that the annual growth is about 150 %. In 2006, they calculate that the user has reached a numbers not less than 20.000.000 !

Fantastic numbers ? I don't know.

But, It's seemed that every student (especially college graduate) has an email account, and doing some fun activity on Friendster. In Jogjakarta, our little town in central Java, internet kiosk is always an attractive business.

Google has not included Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) on there adsense program as supported language, even they already published (also translated) their Search Engine to Indonesian (also Javanese) ...

Web Programming and Digital Photography

What is the relationship between Web Programming and Digital Photography ? The answer is the programmer who love photography. I did the coding for kamushukum.com, after some business with system design, program architecture, etc. And... I also love photography.

I am a hobbyist photographer. I love my Nikon D70S Digital camera. Of course, before take a lot of picture, I has already done some business with digital photo touching, especially in Photoshop CS 2. Cause, in web design line work, we has to prepared what the site would look like in Photoshop.

After the coming of digital photography technology, shooting picture has never come so excitedly before.

With that combination, web programming in one time and also digital photography in other time, I want to admire what wordpress team has written "Coding is poetry".

The first month

For the first month, it was really a hardtime for our team. We only reached 1000 word of entry terms. All of the items were collected from Indonesian Law (Undang-undang RI).

We also, made "fine tuning" for the application to worked properly. At that time, carefull listened to the team as application user, was made us improved the site.

But it's only on our nostalgy. Everything is going well now (I mean the application).

Internet, Land of Hope ?

So far I've learned, I saw so many amazing things happened. There are too many free stuff on internet. Free mail, Free web hosting, Free catalogs, etc. One big question is, who paid for all of this services ? Is this game works ?

When so many dotcom sunk in 2000, it's seem that internet would face "dark future".

But I didn't think so. For me, Internet is a land of hope. One can observe as far as he want to go. No matter the time, how old he/she is, no matter the gender, ethnicity, religion. Only one thing, for any one who has courage enough to learn and learn.

It was in 1995, my first experienced with "internet". A new, confusingly term for young man in such development country like Indonesia.

I remembered when I was walking into an internet kiosk, and ask for help to send a file by email. I did not had email account yet.

Since that time, I spent my time to get everybook about internet. Jump to internet kiosk (we call "warnet-warung internet") for more than two hours a day, ... I feel I've found some "new world".

It was before the fallen of many dotcom company in 2000.

We want to be the largest Indonesian Law dictionary repository.

Well, law enforcement is very important elements for our democratic nation-state. Since the fall of new order regime in 1997, so many bills were contracted by Indonesian Parliament (DPR-Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat). Day by day, more words and law terms were flying to our society. Published one kind of law dictionary in print edition cannot meet the demand for a new, fresh law term needed by people.

What is Kamus Hukum

"Kamus" is the Indonesian word for Dictionary, and “hukum” mean Law.

So Kamus Hukum is the Law dictionary in Indonesian. Naturally, it published and sold on print edition. Since the internet is widely spread in Indonesian archipelago, we think … this is the time to consider online version of Indonesia Law Dictionary.

2 Years

Yup, it almost two (2) years, since this site is completely build from the scratch. The idea came when we developed some tutorial for Law laboratory in Law Faculty, Atmajaya University at Jogjakarta.

Published in September 2005, the site was support by a team consist of more than 5 senior student. Well, we just do the unimportant thing, ... the coding (most in PHP).
